TestMasters LSAT Course Reviews

Isabel Keene | Wesleyan University Before TestMasters 148 After TestMasters 171

“I improved my score by 23 points from my first diagnostic after four months of studying through TestMasters’ self-paced online prep course. The course is easy to follow, accommodates different learning paces, and uses repetition to reinforce essential strategies. In my experience, it took several months and 5-10 practice tests before I felt familiar enough with both the material and the experience of taking the test that I understood which building blocks of the course I needed to revisit and fortify. About a month before my scheduled test date, I was scoring considerably below my goal and had difficulty identifying much of a pattern in the question types I was getting wrong. I decided to work with a TestMasters tutor, Megan Giacomantonio, for several one-hour sessions. Megan was incredibly patient, thoughtful and generous with her time. She encouraged me to consistently employ the methodology (i.e. stopping at the stimulus to take it in, actively ID question types upon reading the question stems), which really turned everything around for me. I decided to delay my scheduled test date by a month, and with more practice, I began scoring consistently in the high 160s. I did not reach my goal of 170 until test day. I unequivocally recommend this course to anyone embarking on studying for the LSAT, particularly to folks working full-time. For me, a combination of delaying my scheduled test date by a month and working with a tutor one-on-one was instrumental to my success.”

Molly Leubner | Brown Before TestMasters 152 After TestMasters 172

“I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with TestMasters or about my instructor. I recommend this course to everybody, which is really saying something because I am a student executive leader for the political science department and I talk to pre-law students about the LSAT almost exclusively. I thought the curriculum made sense and the homeworks, though challenging and frustrating when I was doing them, were so helpful and necessary in hindsight. What made this program most impactful was my instructor, Anthony Meni. He went above and beyond to help me through my LSAT process and, from what I have heard from other TestMasters students, I was not unique in this experience. I genuinely believe that he wanted each of us to succeed not only on the LSAT but in law school and as attorneys. He would frequently connect course concepts to practical experience (What skill is this question type trying to exercise? What about a legal practice might necessitate this skill?) to keep us grounded and to help us remember why the LSAT mattered for our goals. In a class of over 40 people, he knew my name and remembered basic facts about me (topics that confused me in the past, what my goal schools were, etc). I recently enrolled in my dream school with a merit-based scholarship and I absolutely attribute a percentage of my success to Anthony’s guidance and to the TestMasters curriculum.”

David Kimball-Stanley | Trinity College (CT) Before TestMasters 157 After TestMasters 175

“Before enrolling in TestMasters, I had used a few prep books to help me study, but none of them had as comprehensive a strategy for how to succeed as TestMasters does, and none were as ambitious. Our instructor told us we should all shoot for 180s and showed us how taking the LSAT was a teachable skill we could improve on. When I finally took the real test, I had a strategy for every type of question that I knew would work for me, and I knew exactly what to expect from the test creators. Thanks to TestMasters, I was able to increase my score by 18 points.”

Mallika Balachandran | NYU Before TestMasters 145 After TestMasters 175

“Unlike other LSAT prep courses which try and teach tricks to answer LSAT questions or how to make your best guess, TestMasters teaches you how to find the correct answer every time. They teach you why that answer is right and every other answer is clearly wrong. They don’t take any shortcuts in their teaching methods and instead teach you how to think like the test writers. I loved going to my class and this made studying that much easier. My instructor not only took time to answer all of our questions, she encouraged us to challenge her thinking, until it was clear in all of our minds why the correct answer was correct. I ended up raising my score 30 points because TestMasters taught me how to think like the LSAT.”

William Appleby | Boston University Before TestMasters 143 After TestMasters 162

“TestMasters came highly recommended to me by several of my friends who are in law school. I’ll admit I was very nervous about not studying on my own before class began, but I was able to put those feelings aside and trust the course. On my first practice test I scored a 143. I would have felt dejected had I not known about the big score increases TestMasters advertised. I buckled down and studied every day, doing almost all of the homework and taking eleven practice tests during the course. I found the classes, lessons, and online resources to be exceptional and followed the advice of my instructor. My hard work paid off when I received a 162 on my official LSAT, which is the highest I have ever scored. I am right in the range I hoped for when I started the class (160-165) and am definitely a contender at my goal schools. Thank you TestMasters for helping me score big on one of the most difficult tests I have ever taken!”

Katherine Scully | Yale Before TestMasters 156 After TestMasters 172

“I would certainly recommend taking the TestMasters course to anyone interested in taking the LSAT. In the summer I decided I would register to take the September LSAT, and I signed up for the TestMasters course only days before the first diagnostic. Due to the instruction I received at TestMasters, my score quickly rose into the 170s on my diagnostics, and I scored a 172 on the real LSAT. I am not naturally a logical person, so I was pleased with this score. My TestMasters instructor was a vibrant teacher who was clearly committed to helping each student reach his or her highest potential. Taking TestMasters was also helpful because it familiarized me with the material on the LSAT and presented the underlying logic of the LSAC test writers. By the end of the course, I had a solid understanding not only of why certain answers were correct, but also of why LSAC had asked the question in the first place and why the question was framed that way. I had learned what LSAC was testing on each question. This improved my timing, as I learned to predict the right answer from the question stem before I had read any of the answer options. This also helped my performance on the more difficult questions, as I was able to move beyond the convoluted language and bizarre inverted sentences to discern the logic behind the questions.”

Seth Berliner | Columbia Before TestMasters 166 After TestMasters 178

“TestMasters in general and my class instructor in particular have my undying thanks. I could not have gotten a 178 on the LSAT without TestMasters. From little things like the fact that an either/or construct implies ‘or both’ to bigger things like the proper way to diagram sufficient/necessary statements, the things I learned from the classes and materials were absolutely instrumental to my LSAT success.

My instructor was a great guy and at least as great a teacher. He was appropriately serious but maintained a sense of humor to leaven what can be a very stressful, anxious process of preparation. He was thorough but not ponderous and always made sure to address any lingering questions. TestMasters is an intensive course6 hours of class a week could be rough, but he was able to make sure that the course was intensive without being intense. I feel lucky that he was my instructor.

More generally, the TestMasters course is very well put-together. The lessons are clear and the wealth of prep materials is astounding. I took the LSAT twice, and had more than enough practice questions with which to prepare for each. The strategies, tips, and advice are never less than spot-on and made a world of difference. I knew going in that it would require a high degree of self-motivation, but TestMasters makes it easy to apply oneself fully to the task.

I had several friends who insisted I take TestMasters. Having scored a 166 on my first prep test (without having done any prep), I was hesitant to put in the time and money. I am SO glad that I listened to them and made the investment.”

Julia Kropp | Williams College Before TestMasters 152 After TestMasters 171

“My experience with TestMasters was so positive that I found myself advertising the course at the test center during my actual LSAT examination. I came into the course assuming I would have no problem scoring about 170 because I’ve always been good at standardized tests. On my diagnostic, I scored a 152 and was almost ready to give up the law school dream altogether. But after ten weeks with many hours of in-class instruction and many more hours of homework, my score went up to a 171. What I loved about TestMasters is that we weren’t learning tricks to magically do better on this test; instead, we were just learning the proper approaches one must take to different types of questions, learning how to spot flawed reasoning in arguments, and learning techniques that allowed us to do questions quickly. Also, the materials that TestMasters provides its students with are endless. Even if one has done every single homework problem and every single practice exam, you can still find many hours worth of supplemental practice problems to do in the weeks leading up to the LSAT. Finally, the academic support service that students can use at any time is yet another reason why TestMasters is amazing. I highly and unconditionally recommend TestMasters.”

Richard Ragusa | Fordham University Before TestMasters 145 After TestMasters 168

“When I decided to pursue law school, I was nervous about the LSAT because, in general, I did not perform well on standardized tests and I knew nothing about this particular test. My friend recommended I sign up for the TestMasters course because he did so and had fantastic results. Thankfully, I listened to him. I was crushed after I scored a 145 on my first diagnostic because I thought my dream of attending law school was over. I thought it would be impossible to achieve my goal of 160, and I considered giving up. However, my TestMasters instructor explained to me that the first test means nothing and told me about success stories of students improving by 20+ points, which made me believe that with TestMasters a 160 was still possible. Not only did I reach my goal, I far exceeded it. I am now receiving scholarships at schools that I first labeled as reaches, and I am a competitive applicant at schools that I used to only dream about attending. My 23-point increase is indicative of the incredibly effective methods taught by TestMasters to answer all of the different types of questions on the test as well as the dedicated and highly knowledgeable instructors.”

Blair Nelson | NYU Before TestMasters 164 After TestMasters 175

“Before TestMasters, I felt overwhelmed by the idea of the LSAT and was unsure of how to begin preparing for the test. The structure of the TestMasters course and their method of breaking down different question types was exactly what I needed to make the test feel manageable. My instructor was fantastic and kept the class entertaining while presenting the massive amount of material very clearly.

My score didn’t change much from the first diagnostic test to the second, but I already felt much more confident with the material and knew I would improve. In the last few weeks of the course I was consistently scoring 10 points above my starting point on practice tests. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the course to anyone planning on taking the LSATthe skill of the instructors, the amount of prep materials provided, and the online resources absolutely make the class worth the cost.”

Rachel Bisi | Western New England University Before TestMasters 148 After TestMasters 167

“TestMasters was worth every penny, and I cannot stress that enough. While other programs may provide tempting price deals, you simply can’t compromise quality. TestMasters provides first-rate teachers so comfortable with the curriculum you will never for a moment question their competency. On top of that, they provide more study material then you will ever get to...believe me, I tried! Taking TestMasters was by far the best decision I’ve ever made and I now have a score that will allow me to get into a great law school; and for that I am forever grateful. Take TestMasters and do the homework, you will knock the test out of the park.”

Justin Fung | Cornell Before TestMasters 167 After TestMasters 180

“Like many other LSAT test takers, I initially had my doubts about how effective a prep course could be, but TestMasters far surpassed my expectations. The wealth of resources made available to me after signing up for the course ensured that I would never run out of practice material. The instructor for my course was constantly challenging and encouraging the class to go beyond getting the right answer to understanding the questions. Make no mistakethis prep course is not for those hoping to find an easy solution. I put in at least five to ten additional hours a week into preparation and finished every LSAT question in the curriculum. I ended up jumping 13 points from my first practice LSAT, 167, to end up with a 180 on the real exam. If you take TestMasters seriously, you can succeed also.”
